hi, thanks for your question…sorry i haven’t replied!
i think abortion can be a very serious issue because the decision, stemming from various circumstances, can lead to legitimate impacts and burdens in a person’s life. it’s not easy to argue that abortion is a wrong decision.
as a Christian, i don’t believe in abortion. however, this is because i believe in the Biblical concept of chastity…and i hope i don’t sound too “holier than thou” or just plain weird. then, because of my relationship with my husband and the stability of a family, abortion is not something that requires consideration…pregnancy would be amazing news!
that being said, we don’t live in a perfect world…and of course that’s not what you want to ask about.
because abortion is usually a decision in situations where the parent(s) feel financially, emotionally, or in other ways incapable of raising a child, refusing to abort creates serious impacts on a person’s life. people are often worried and scared to face consequences such as the reaction of friends, family, or even strangers, and the responsibilities of raising a child. in these circumstances, it is still relatively easy for me to say that God has a plan for everything, and you need only to rely on His support and guidance. despite the difficulties, God has a wonderful plan for the parent(s) and the child, even if it is not immediately obvious. i sincerely believe that God is sufficient for everyone; His love and mercy will always comfort.
now, the most difficult circumstances are those such as rape, or pregnancy at a more dangerous age. raising a child that resulted from a rape incident can be constant reminder of the horrible experience and this can be seen as unfair to both the parent and the child. on the other hand, if a mother is pregnant at a much older age, such as 55, attempting to give birth can present severe health issues or even be fatal for the parent or the child. it is extremely difficult to simply stand and preach the Bible without experiencing these circumstances first hand…but i believe that God is omnipotent and merciful; if you trust in Him, love Him, and sincerely pray to Him…He will show you the way. i believe that God has a good plan…a plan better than the best we can ever make on our own.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. -Romans 8:28
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. -Jeremiah 29:11
Fear not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yea, I will help you; yea, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. - Isaiah 41:10
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. - Proverbs 3:5-6
